Estonia’s territorial waters extend as far north as 60° latitude. For many sailors from the south, this seems very close to the North Pole, and they perceive sailing here to be quite extreme. Let’s make a comparison: if the Earth’s average temperature in January at 60°N is -15°C, in Estonia it is -6°C, and in July, it is 13°C and 17°C respectively. Many popular southern sailing areas have similar conditions. This should be enough to convince those who have doubts about the local sailing possibilities that despite its high latitude Estonia has up to five months of good sailing. In addition, a refreshing dip in the midsummer sea is totally possible.
